Anglian Water is one of the UK’s largest water utility companies. It provides water and water recycling services to almost seven million people in the East of England and Hartlepool.  Anglian Water is developing two new reservoirs - one in Lincolnshire, and another in the Cambridgeshire Fens - in partnership with Cambridge Water.  As well as securing water supply for future generations, the projects present significant social, economic and environmental opportunities for communities across the East of England.

The Camargue Group (jfd and Camargue) was tasked with delivering consultation on the proposals and engaging communities, so they felt valued, involved, and recognised the benefits the projects could deliver. 

We created a suite of materials to outline the projects and need for both reservoirs, with a visual structure to make the complex proposals easy for people to understand. This included bespoke maps, diagrams and infographics, project brochures, as well as promotional graphics and event materials.

We also developed two project-specific websites to offer a crucial platform for people to engage with the materials and provide feedback on the proposals. Members of the public could view the proposals in interactive maps and leave feedback using the online feedback forms, powered by our Consult Online platform.  

The detailed online maps we created provided accurate, scalable data that people could interact with. People could view and toggle all of the projects’ different elements, and search a for postcodes to see the proposals most relevant to them. 

This all helped to ensure that communities and stakeholders could understand the proposals and easily access the consultation and submit meaningful feedback. This is crucial to supporting the consenting process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, while protecting Anglian Water’s corporate reputation by making sure customers felt valued and included.
